DESCRIPTION:The Newton Stewart and Minnigaff junior solo piping competition took place at Penninghame Primary School\, Newton Stewart on Saturday July 8\, 2023. The competition was part of the local traditional music and dance festival.  \n\n\n\n12 and Under – 2 parted March\n\n\n\n\nRuby Warren\n\n\n\nMaura McElhinney\n\n\n\n\n12 and Under – 2 parted Slow Air\n\n\n\n\nRuby Warren\n\n\n\nMaura McElhinney\n\n\n\n\n14 and Under – 2 parted March\n\n\n\n\nWilliam Muirhead\n\n\n\nCharlie Duncan\n\n\n\nCalum Morrison\n\n\n\n\n18 and Under MSR\n\n\n\n\nEala McElhinney\n\n\n\nEwan Allen\n\n\n\nCaelyn Wood\n\n\n\n\n18 and Under Hornpipe and Jig\n\n\n\n\nEala McElhinney\n\n\n\nEwan Allen\n\n\n\n\n\n•Piping judge Chris Gray with Eala McElhinney\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n  \n\n\n\n  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n  \n\n\n\n\n\n \n  \n  \nSOLO PIPING COMPETITION\n\nThis year’s junior solo piping competition will take place at Minnigaff Primary School on Saturday 8th July 2023. \n\n\nSPECIAL AWARD 2023\nThe winner of this year’s 14 & Under 4-Parted March (any time signature) / 2 x 2-Parted March (any time signature) will win\, courtesy of the National Piping Centre\, a free place at one of the Autumn Junior Gathering Weekends (Sat/Sun 7th/8th or 14th/15th Oct) held at the National Piping Centre (Glasgow).\nRAFFLE\nRaffle tickets will be available at The Vault Arts Centre and at the piping competion and will be drawn at Minnigaff Primary School at the conclusion of the piping competition. We have a special raffle prize this year\, kindly donated by the National Piping Centre; two tickets for an evening concert at Piping Live 2023 (Glasgow). We also have additional raffle prizes – donated by the excellent McCallum Bagpipes – of various piping goods.\n\n REGISTRATION/APPLICATION FORM\nClick the “Open/Print” link/icon below to open the registration/application form (PDF format).\nOPEN/PRINT \n LOCATION\nMinnigaff Primary School is located just north of the B7079 New Galloway Road which runs from the A712 and A75\, to the West\, over the Creebridge to meet the A714 which runs directly\, north/south\, through Newton Stewart.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMinnigaff Primary School 15 Bruce Place Minnigaff Wigtownshire Scotland DG8 6PE\n \nIf you’re travelling from the West\, take a left turn off the A75 onto the A712 and then an immediate left onto the B7079 heading towards Minnigaff & Newton Stewart. Take the second right off the B7079 into McGregor Drive. Minnigaff Primary School is the second left\, once you’ve turned onto McGregor Drive.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIf you’re travelling from the South\, through Newton Stewart on the A714\, take a right\, or a left if you’re travelling from the North\, directly over the Cree bridge\, which becomes the B7079. Take what is effectively the 4th left once you’ve crossed the Cree bridge\, onto McGregor Drive.\nACCESS & PARKING\nVehicle access to the school will be via an anti-clockwise one-way system around McGregor Drive\, Kirroughtree Avenue and Bruce Place. This will be in place to reduce traffic congestion and will be in operation from 9am – 5:30pm. The event will be well signposted and there is plenty of parking at the site or within a short walking distance should the available parking reach capacity.
