DESCRIPTION:This year’s BMus Piping Degree Showcase concert will gather music from places across Scotland. Each year group has been assigned a locality of Scotland from which to draw their repertoire. Focusing on specific areas and their associated composers\, challenges the students to research the links of music to the places of its origin\, and delve deep into collections and archives rooted in these places. Across the evening you will hear music drawn from Glasgow\, Lewis\, Perthshire\, Invernesshire\, and further afield.

SUMMARY:Jenny Mair Square Day 2023
DESCRIPTION:For pipe bands and solo piping. This is the second ‘unofficial’ major of the New Zealand pipe band season\, and the first where all the Grade One bands compete against each other. \nThe venue\, Palmerston North Square is four acres of park in the centre of the city. It is always held on the second Saturday in December. It has a reputation amongst the bands of being a relaxed and well run competition. Palmerston North is ideally situated to allow bands from Wellington to Hamilton to travel to the contest and be able to return home the same day. That does not prevent bands from Auckland\, Christchurch and Australia from coming and staying the weekend. This year is the 43rd Square day. \nThe draw and times for the 2023 Jenny Mair Highland Square Day. \n \n\nGraded Set and Medley Competition – 11.00am Saturday\, December 9\, 2023 \nThe contest will use one board and run Graded Set and Graded Medley events\, commencing with the Grade 4 Set. Each band is to follow the path towards the i-Site before a right-wheel is made to then halt at the Massed Bands assembly point as indicated.
