SUMMARY:42nd Nicol-Brown solo piping competition 2025
DESCRIPTION:The Nicol-Brown Contest is held annually on the Saturday before Columbus Day / Canadian Thanksgiving. \n\nThe 41st Nicol-Brown Amateur Invitational Contest was held at St. Mark Presbyterian Church in Rockville\, Maryland\, co-sponsored again with the wonderful people of the Institute of Musical Traditions. The weekend’s events began with a judges’ recital on Friday evening\, October 11\, an outstanding opportunity to listen to performances from two of the world’s premier pipers. The amateur invitational contest and awards ceremony followed on Saturday\, October 12\, 2024. \nView a pdf copy of the 2024 program.\nJudges’ Recital\nFriday\, October 11\, 2024\nDoors opened at 7:00 pm for a 7:30 concert.\nSt. Mark Presbyterian Church\n10701 Old Georgetown Road\nRockville\, Maryland \nFREE ADMISSION\, thanks to the EUSPBA and other generous donors. Donations are always welcome at the door or online for the benefit of the Nicol-Brown. Bring young pipers and support the future of piping. \nThe 2024 Nicol-Brown Judges\nRoddy MacLeod\, MBE (Glasgow\, Scotland)\nBen McClamrock (Washington\, DC) \n \nThe 2021 video concert remains available on YouTube\, presented as a benefit for the continuing mission of encouraging amateur piping. The Nicol-Brown committee is tremendously grateful to the 2021 judging panel—Roddy MacLeod\, MBE\, Bob Worrall\, Jenny Hazzard\, and Nick Hudson—for their generosity in sharing their talents with all of us. \nDonations to the Nicol-Brown are always welcome.
