Photo: JohnSlavin@designfolk.com/Bagpipe.news \nHighlighting concerts at Celtic Connections 2024 featuring bagpipes or piping-related music.   \nThe Celtic Connection website says about the concert: “Uilleann piper Leonard Barry launches Littoral\, his beautiful third solo album\, ten years after the acclaimed New Road. The title reflects both Leonard’s youth in the townland of Kilmoyley in North Kerry\, and his current home on the Sligo coast\, celebrating his journey as a musician with some of the many artists he has met on the way. In this one-off special concert Leonard is joined by the album’s producer Michael McGoldrick on flute\, Ali Hutton on guitar\, Alice Allen on cello\, Andy Morrow on fiddle\, and Seamie O’Dowd on vocals\, guitar and bouzouki. \n“Tarran are an exhilarating contemporary folk group from Glasgow\, with roots in both Ireland and the Western Isles. The band consists of Sophie Joint (Keys)\, Breanna Wilson (Fiddle)\, Malachy Arnold (Harp)\, and Rory Stark (Whistle/Bodhran). Using elements of funk\, blues and contemporary rhythm\, the band create a lively and innovative twist on traditional music. Tarran’s captivating performances have been brought to stages across Europe since 2019\, including last year’s Celtic Connections where they won Battle of the Folk Bands. In this concert\, Tarran will be releasing their debut EP\, which will showcase undiscovered music that the band has been working on over the last year.”
