Date set for the 2026 Flora MacDonald Piping Recital and competitions

The annual Flora MacDonald Piping Recital and competitions are organised by the South Uist Games & Piping Society, and are held at the community hub of Cnoc Soilleir at Dalliburgh on South Uist.

The dates for next year have been set as Friday, March 13, 2026 at 7pm for the Adult competition at Cnoc Soilleir, with the Junior Competition following on Saturday, March 14 (venue tbc).

The piping recital with Stuart Liddell MBE take place on Saturday evening, March 14, with a 7pm start at Cnoc Soilleir. Stuart has has a very successful 2025 with leading Inveraray & District to the Grade 1 World Pipe Band Championship title, and winning the Glenfiddich Championship, the Senior Piobaireachd at the Argylshire Gathering, the Northern Meeting Clasp, and the Overall Champion at the Scottish Piping Society of London’s competitions.

Junior Piping Competition Rules

• Chanter competitors may compete in one competition only e.g 1,2 or 3 ·      
• Previous Chanter/Novice Piping competition winners are not eligible to re-compete in that category. 
• Piping competitors may compete in their own age group ONLY.     
• Age groups may be changed depending on the number of entries.     
• Competitors must be under 15 years or under 18 years of age on the day of the competition 
• Tune changes are not permitted. 
• Any alteration to the above rules are at the discretion of the organising committee.
