Pipe Bands head to Innerleithen for Anniversary Contest
The best Pipe Bands from all over Southeast Central Scotland will head to Innerleithen on Saturday June 3 to compete in the annual Innerleithen Pipe Band Championships held in Victoria Park, Innerleithen.
Allan Johnston of St Ronan’s Piping Society the local charity which runs the competition tells us more; “This year is a very special year in the history of the Society it being the 20th anniversary of our contest and it seems that it goes from strength to strength and is well supported by local businesses, individuals, and our loyal patrons. This allows us to support our local Pipe Band with instruments, uniform and equipment and our local Pipe Band Hall which is a valuable community asset. On the 3rd of June there will be over 17 performances with bands from Novice Juvenile, Grade 4, Novice Juvenile & Grade 4 MSR, Grade 3 and 2 so there will be something for everyone and at the end of the day we will be handing out a fine array of trophies and prize money amounting to over £2500 to the successful bands. In addition to the fine Pipe Band music there will be Ice Cream and a snack bar”.
The competition will be fierce, and the piping will be first class, an event not to miss. Let the Battle of the Bands commence!
Entry to the event will be £3 pp (£2 concession) Children under 16 free. Parking will be £3 per car.
