
The Weekend Piping Club

The Weekend Piping Club is a fantastic learning place for new players and those that already play. Aimed at young people aged 17 & under, classes are taught in small groups here at the National Piping Centre in McPhater Street. There are three levels, all of which will run for 12 weeks with the Glasgow schools term dates.
The Weekend Piping Club will take place on Saturdays and Sundays (depending on Sunday demand).
The dates for 2023 terms are:
Winter: Saturday 7th January – Sunday 26th March
Spring: Saturday 22nd April – Sunday 25th June
Autumn: Saturday 2nd September – Sunday 10th December
When you make your booking, choose either Saturday or Sunday as the day you wish to attend. The course will take place over the next 12 weeks on the day of your choice, although Sunday lessons may be changed if not enough bookings are taken.
You can sign up now for the following levels:
Complete Beginners* Aged 17&U
Time: 11am-12noon (1 hour class)
Cost £80 for 12 weeks on either Saturday or Sunday
Course content: introductory exercises and demonstrations, taught by ear using TNPC Tutorbook.
*Please note: practice chanters and books can be purchased from the Bagpipe Shop in-person or online
Beginners Aged 17&U
Time: 10am – 11am (1 hour class)
Cost £80 for 12 weeks on either Saturday or Sunday
Course content: Those that can play scale and one or two grace notes, including those who have taken our complete beginners course.
Please note: You do not need to have done our complete beginners course in order to join at this level.
Pipers (Aged 17&U)
Time: 10am-12 noon (2 hour class)
Cost: £120 for 12 weeks on either Saturday or Sunday
Course content: This course will focus on Technique, Repertoire & Performance Practice
The teachers for Autumn/Winter term will be Robyn McKay, Ben Muir, Ceitidh NicDhòmhnaill and Ailis Sutherland.
