Visit one of Scotland’s longest running Highland Games, showcasing traditional heavy and light events, highland dancing, piping competitions and lesser known entertainments like tilt the bucket and barrel racing.
The next Games is: Saturday 20th July, 2024 from 11am – 5pm followed by a dance with K & The Pupils
Held on the 3rd Saturday in July every year, for over 175 years!
New for 2024 are Open Female Heavy and Open Junior Light competitions, both subject to RSHGA rules.
Held on the 3rd Saturday in July every year, for over 175 years!
One of the highlights of the games, and a major draw for visitors are the Pipe and Drum bands. The bands start at the bottom of the village, working their way to the square at 12pm and up to the Public Park for 1pm.
Each year, Tomintoul invites multiple bands who take turns to play throughout the afternoon in the public park. To prove their skills, the Drum Majors compete with one another to throw their maces over a banner – all in perfect time to the marching music! This is an uncommon treat to watch and cheer on.
