The 2019 Silver Chanter Piping Competition will be held in The National Piping Centre on the evening of Saturday, August 10th and becomes the first featured event in the Piping Live! Festival, thereby reaching a new and international audience.
Roddy MacLeod, Principal of The National Piping Centre said: “Following the success of 2018 we are excited to offer the event this year within the Piping Live! calendar. We are delighted to continue the tradition of celebrating the music of the MacCrimmons and we hope to host the event for many years to come”.
Visitors to The National Piping Centre can view the Silver Chanter in The Museum of Piping.
The invited players are drawn from the following list of world class qualifying events:
1. Previous winner of the Silver Chanter – Iain Speirs
2. Winner of the Dunvegan Medal – Jamie Forrester
3. Piping Live! Masters Piobaireachd Winner – Jack Lee
4. Senior Piobaireachd, Argyllshire Gathering Winner – Stuart Liddell
5. Northern Meeting Clasp Winner – Callum Beaumont
6. Glenfiddich Champion – Finlay Johnston
The event is generously supported by The William Grant Foundation.
The adjudicator for the evening will be Jim McGillivray, Ontario.
