The 26th annual P.M. Donald MacLeod Memorial Invitational Solo Piping Competition was won by Finlay Johnston.
The contest, held in tribute to the Lewis-born master piper and composer, took place today in the Caladh Inn, Stornoway in front of a packed house. The contest was, as ever, organised by the Lewis and Harris Piping Society whose Chairman, Dr. John Smith acted as fear an tighe.
Dr Angus MacDonald, John Wilson and Rona Lightfoot judged all of the events.

Hornpipe & Jig – 1. Stuart Liddell; 2. Finlay Johnston; 3. Callum Beaumont; 4. Roddy MacLeod MBE.

Also competing but not in the prizes: Glenn Brown and Dr. Peter McCalister.
The contest was broadcast live over the internet. Early indications are that a good-sized worldwide audience watched the event.
