Ciaran Ross playing at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland Piping Degree Showcase last night, May 9, 2019. Shotts & Dykehead piper Danny Hutcheson and Masters student Enora Morice from Brittany are to either side.

The concert displayed the piping repertoire of the Undergraduate students from all years of the course, and there was a fantastic version of the classic Hard Times, written by Stephen Foster in 1874 and sung by Cameron Barnes who is pictured below. Cameron made the song his own – and I loved his voice, which reminded me of Van Morrison – but with a strong Scottish accent!

Malin Lewis played a short set on smallpipes through various effect pedals and featured the Lindsay System chanter which has a range of two octaves.
