Wilson Brown, an instructor at The National Piping Centre, has raised over £1,700 for Prostate Cancer UK after taking part in a recent charity walk around Glasgow’s Pollok Park.

Wilson, an instructor at The National Piping Centre piped all the way around the route.

The former Gold Medallist and Strathclyde Police Pipe Band piper raised additional funds when he auctioned a 6/8 march he composed for the event.

The highest bidder was Sandy MacKenzie from Alness in Ross & Cromarty, Scotland.

Mr MacKenzie has named the tune, Stuart MacKenzie’s Welcome to Gairloch in memory of his son who died 16 years ago.

Wilson said: “I would like to thank Sandy and all those who donated and who are still donating to this very worthwhile and important charity. Donations have exceeded my target by over 300%”
