Brodie Watson-Massey from Edinburgh, Scotland won this year’s Pipe Idol competition. The competition was held over four heats at the 2019 Piping Live! Glasgow International Piping Festival in Glasgow with the Grand Final being held at the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall this evening.
Brodie who competed in the final against Finlay Frame, Luke Kennedy and Chris Happs, wins a set of Fred Morrison Reelpipes.
The competition is for pipers aged 21 and younger. Four rounds produce four finalists over the four days from Monday to Thursday. Contestants are required to play an MSR, a Hornpipe & Jig, and a maximum five-minute medley of their own choice.
A panel of anonymous judges are embedded within the audience. Each round is held at the Street Cafe outside The National Piping Centre in McPhater Street, Glasgow with the winners of each round then competing in the ticketed Grand Final.
