The 28th annual Archie Kenneth Quaich competition took place today in the Edinburgh rooms of the Royal Scottish Pipers’ Society.

The winner was Andrew Park who won for the second time. Andrew also won in 2013.

Peter McCallister was fear an tighe. Donald MacPhee and Patricia Henderson were the judges. This was the second year of their two-year stint judging at this contest.

Results: 1. Andrew Park (The Rout of Glen Fruin, Donald MacDonald setting); 2. Stewart Gaudin (The Groat); 3. Gill Cairns (Lament for John Morrison of Assynt House); 4. Stuart Letford (Maol Donn). 23 played.

The competition is organised by the Piobaireachd Society in memory of Archie Kenneth (1915-1989), its former Music Editor. Kenneth compiled Books 11, 12, 13 and 14 of the Society’s collection and had just finished preparations for Book 15 when he died.
