As expected, there have been more cancellations and postponements in the piping world as a result of advice concerning the Coronavirus pandemic:
• The Scots Guards Knockout has been postponed till later in the year. The first semi final – between Angus MacColl Jnr. and Brighde Chaimbeul – was due to take place on Sunday, March 29). The second – between Calum Brown and John Dew – was to be held on Sunday, April 26.
• Lochaber Piping Society has cancelled this year’s annual Junior competition which was due to take place in Fort William on March 28.
• This Friday’s (20th) father and son recital by Angus MacColl senior and junior at Tulloch Castle near Dingwall has been axed, and …
• … Inverclyde Council has confirmed to us that the pipe band contest due to take place at Gourock on May 10 has been cancelled.
• Further afield, New York City’s 2020 Tartan Day parade will not take place.
