The RSPBA today confirmed the cancellation of this year’s United Kingdom Pipe Band Championships. This makes three of the five ‘majors’ to be cancelled for 2020 as a result of the Coronavirus outbreak.
The United Kingdom Pipe Band Championships was due to take place on June 13 in Lurgan, Northern Ireland.
The remaining two RSPBA majors are the Scottish (at Levengrove Park on July 25) and the Worlds (at Glasgow Green on August 14-15).
RSPBA Chief Executive said today in a statement: “In response to the current Coronavirus outbreak (CoVid-19), we have made the decision to cancel the 2020 United Kingdom Pipe Band Championships in Lurgan.
“Our decision is based on the latest guidance from the Scottish and Northern Ireland Governments, as well as advice taken from our key partners.”
