Two of our readers have sets of pipes they wish to sell. The first comes from Peter McCalister of Stirlingshire, Scotland, who has an outstanding set of Robertson pipes for sale. The set is pictured, above.

The sale includes a Robertson chanter with ivory sole. Peter says: “This is an ex-British Army bagpipe that was played throughout the Second World War in Burma, and then in the Korean War (1950).

“The instrument is in excellent condition, produces a lovely tone, and is very steady and easy to reed. It is being sold by its original owner, a veteran of The Black Watch, for £2,500.”

The second set of pipes for sale belongs to Peter Philips of Herefordshire, England. The instrument, pictured, is a superb set made by Inveran in 2000. The mounts are solid silver with beautiful engravings, all hallmarked. The pipes were assessed and played by the late John D. Burgess and produce an excellent sound.

These pipes were overhauled by the College of Piping in 2017.

There is Inveran pipe chanter and a Sinclair practice chanter included, as well as a number of music collections – Seaforths Scots Guards etc.
