A fundraising evening for the Eilidh MacLeod Memorial Trust will take place on friday at The National Piping Centre in McPhater Street, Glasgow.

The National Piping Centre (NPC) has partnered online shopping giant, Amazon in a new fundraising initiative.

AmazonSmile is a website operated by Amazon that lets customers enjoy the same wide selection of products, low prices, and convenient shopping features as on amazon.co.uk. The difference is that when customers shop through the url, smile.amazon.co.uk, AmazonSmile will donate 0.5% of the net purchase price (excluding VAT, returns and shipping fees) of eligible purchases to the charitable organisations selected by customers.

Therefore, anyone with an Amazon account can simply nominate the National Piping Centre as their charity and it will receive 0.5% of the net purchase price of purchases customers make.

To register, click the Amazon smile logo to select the NPC as your charity. Then to donate as you shop, go through smile.amazon.co.uk/ (rather than the usual Amazon homepage) and you will donate with your eligible purchases.

A spokesman for the NPC said: “It has been a tough year and we appreciate everyone who has donated, attended online events, bought lessons and shopped with us in recent months.

“There are so many ways you can support the National Piping Centre through the tough winter that’s ahead, too. We are here for online lessons, classes and courses, and by attending those you are directly contributing to our charity. With Christmas approaching, our Bagpipe Shop can help, with gift ideas and vouchers.

“Our restaurant and hotel are currently closed under Scotland’s Tier 4 restrictions, but our events team remains on hand to help with weddings and events for 2021.

Other charities that have partnered AmazonSmile include the RSPCA, Age UK and the Royal Manchester Children’s Hosptial.
