The National Piping Centre’s (NPC) extended target to raise funds in order to digitise the archives of the Piping Times, Piping Today and International Piper has closed with just over £34,000 donated.

The project also includes the production of the first new bumper edition Piping Times annual, which will be available later this year.

Finlay MacDonald, Director of Piping at the NPC, said: “We are delighted and overwhelmed with response from the public. It shows the high regard that these titles hold within the piping community worldwide. We look forward to seeing the project come together over the next few months.”

Work will now commence on the project. A spokesman for the NPC added that those that donated for a reward will be contacted soon about their chosen option.

The campaign was extended after the initial target of £28,500 was reached in a couple of weeks. The extension means The International Piper can been included in the project.

• Anyone who missed the Crowdfunder, but who would like a copy of the Piping Times annual, can pre-order a copy from The Bagpipe Shop (postage is free on all UK pre-orders).
