Right now the world is united in support for Ukraine. There are lots of recordings all over social media of the Ukrainian National Anthem being sung and played in bomb-damaged Ukrainian homes, air-raid shelters, and played by orchestras and sung by crowds of worried people in city squares and in front of Embassy buildings worldwide. Pipers can now join in as Timothy Cummings has arranged the anthem for bagpipes.

Tim, whose excellent Theory Top-Up series will be well known to readers of bagpipe.news and the former Piping Today magazine, contacted bagpipe.news yesterday about the anthem. He said: “For those interested and feeling similarly helpless, I’d like to offer this new arrangement of the Ukrainian national anthem, Ще не вмерла України і слава, і воля (Glory and Freedom of Ukraine has not yet Perished), adapted for Scottish-style pipes.  Included in the arrangement are the melody and a harmony part, along with chord symbols and a bass line for any accompanists.”

The sheet music, published below, may also be downloaded free here from the Birchen Music website, where you can also listen to Sibelius-generated audio samples (which, Tim hopes, will soon be replaced by better recordings)

Tim added: “You are all welcome to share this with whomever you like, however you like. Please stay hopeful, love your neighbour, and keep making great music.”
