The National Youth Pipe Band of Scotland is a community bringing young people together in support of the pipe band tradition, whilst exploring new ideas and what is possible outside of pipe band competition in the concert setting. The National Youth Pipe Band provides unique development opportunities and experiences for young people aged 10-25 through their National Bands, Outreach programme and projects targeting social and creative progress within the tradition.

Applications for all three of their National Bands will be opening on April 1, 2022. Rehearsals and performances are focussed from Sept-Feb 2023 with opportunities from their Outreach and New Horizons programme and beyond throughout the year.

Steven Blake, Director of NYPBS has said: “We are excited to launch another year of the NYPBS with three National Bands this year. Our bands create a community for Scotland’s top young players to help each other develop and create new, exciting music for the concert space!”

As an annual project, applications are required for each year of activity. Both new and returning members must complete this year’s application form. For new members, and existing members who wish to audition for a different band, you will be required to submit a video along with your form. Guidance on requirements and advice on your video can be found here: www.nypbs.co.uk/applications

Successful applicants will be invited to attend in-person audition workshops at The National Piping Centre where applicants will have the opportunity to work on concert repertoire together as well as individual conversations with a panel.
