If you can’t be in Glasgow from August 8 – 14 to soak in the fabulous traditional, exciting and eclectic bagpipe music at Piping Live! this year, you can do the next best thing and livestream many of the events to the comfort of your own home and SMART TV.

For a cost of £75, the livestream pass allows you to watch over 40 hours of events, and also gives the option to catch up on anything you miss, or rewatch any of the concerts for up to seven days after the festival. The Silver Chanter, The 56th Annual MacCrimmon Piobaireachd competition • 03/08/22, 7.30pm
The Silver Chanter is held on the Wednesday preceding Piping Live!, and is livestreamed from the competition’s new home at Sabhal Mòr Ostaig on the Isle of Skye. Six top pipers will compete, playing some of the most well-known piobaireachd from the MacCrimmon dynasty. This year’s recitalists are Angus MacColl, Jamie Forrester, Glenn Brown, Willie McCallum, Callum Beaumont and Finlay Johnston

The Piping Live! Masters Piobaireachd & MSR events • 08/08/22, All day from 8.30am
Join the world’s top solo pipers live from The National Piping Centre as they compete in the Piobaireachd event in the Masters Solo Piping Competition. The March, Strathspey and Reel section will commence upon completion of the Piobaireachd event at around 5.00pm.

We’re a Case the Bunch of Us – with Allan MacDonald and band + Beira • 08/08/22, from 7.30
This event will see Allan MacDonald with his hand-picked band and Beira take to the stage, inviting you all to experience an extraordinary evening of Gaelic music.

The Lunchtime Recital series • Tuesday to Thursday, 1pm
Tune into The National Piping Center Auditorium at lunchtime from Tuesday till Thursday to listen to a world class solo piping performer in recital.

Join the creators of the Peeb Mobile Bagpipe app to find out more about this new technology.  This innovative app will place a broad variety of piping traditions in your pocket allowing you to dive into the soundscapes of many diverse bagpipe traditions.

The Eliza Ross Collection Launch • 09/08/22, 3.30pm
The Eliza Ross Collection, compiled in 1812, was discovered in Raasay House in 1954. The collection includes one hundred and fifty songs, instrumental dance tunes, reels, jigs and slow airs along with six piobaireachd and is now republished as a new edition. There will be performances of the music by Dr Angus MacDonald and friends.

LBPS presents Ye Heilans an ye Lawlans • 10/08/22, 7.30pm
The Lowland and Border Pipers’ Society invites you to join Harta and the Matt Seattle Band in The National Piping Centre for what is lined up to be a terrific evening of piping and more!

This event will be an hour of classical pipe music brought to you by the Piobaireachd society.

Donald MacPherson: A Celebration • 10/08/22, 2.30pm
This year would have been Donald MacPherson’s 100th Birthday. Piping Live! is celebrating this centenary with a very special event, commemorating Donald’s huge legacy in the piping world.  Donald’s students Dougie Murray, Iain Speirs and David Shedden will play Donald’s compositions, as well as tunes that were important to Donald, along with sharing some of their memories of their time with him, compered by another of his students, Stuart Shedden.

The Pipe Idol Grand Final • 11/08/22, 5.30pm
After four heats of fierce competition the four finalists will play one last time in front of a panel of secret judges in the National Piping Centre auditorium to see who will be crowned champion.

The Pipe Major Alasdair Gillies Memorial Recital Challenge • 11/08/22, 7.30pm
This event pits five top pipers against each other as they take to the stage to perform a medley of their favourite tunes. This will be exciting dynamic piping at its very best. This year’s pipers are: Callum Beaumont; Finlay Johnston; Sarah Muir; Angus MacColl and Matt MacIsaac.

The Gordon Duncan Memorial Competition • 14/08/22, 2.30pm
This unique event continues to celebrate the late-great Gordon’s links to Scotland, Ireland and Brittany as each competitor will play sets of Scottish, Irish and Breton music. The competitors are: Angus Nicolson – Scotland; Bradley Parker – Ireland; Ladislas Klatka – Brittany; and Andrea Boyd – Canada

Closing Concert with Fred Morrison Trio and Paddy Keenan • 14/08/22, 7.30pm
The final event of Piping Live! 2022 features two heavyweights of the trad music world – Paddy Keenan and the Fred Morrison Trio to round off this year’s festivities with a bang.
