What’s on at Piping Live! Sunday, August 14

Looking forward one week, to next Sunday morning, and at that point we will have experienced the full week of Piping Live! and the two days of World Pipe Band Championships. That is a nice thought, considering the world in which we all lived through since March 2020.

The Piping Live! Sunday always had a relaxed feel, which was often needed after a busy week at the festival and full day listening to bands on Glasgow Green the previous day. Next Sunday the entertainment starts at 2.30pm with four solo pipers: Angus Nicolson, Scotland; Bradley Parker, Ireland; Ladislas Klatka, Brittany; and Andrea Boyd, Canada competing at the Gordon Duncan Memorial — which is also available to watch on livestream.

Half an our later, at 3pm, a Survivor Session at the Pipers’ Tryst begins and carries the jigs, reels, hornpipes, and maybe the occasional song, into the late, late afternoon.

The festival comes to a conclusion with a Closing Concert headlined by two giants of the traditional music world — Paddy Keenan and Fred Morrison. Going to see one of these performers play is a special occasion, but having both together on one concert platform is a rare treat and deserves to have a packed out, standing-room only audience. This concert is also available to watch on the livestream with a Livestream Festival Pass or Watch Online Individual Ticket.
