Piping Live! (and Glasgow) is really heating up this week as more and more familiar faces return to the festival and fill the Street Cafe and other venues with fantastic music, patter and laughs, and sample the craft beer on offer from Drygate Brewery.

ScottishPower Pipe Band won the International Quartet Competition yesterday, August 9, in the very busy Strathclyde suite in the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall. At the same time, Allan MacDonald and friends were playing to a packed-out, appreciative audience over in The National Piping Centre auditorium.

There were lots special moments at Piping Live! yesterday. The tribute paid by Iranian piper, Lian, to her father and the spontaneous support that their show received in the Street Cafe was very moving.

There are magical moments to be found all over the festival, so get yourself to Glasgow over the next three days if you can. The sun is shining and the festival is in holiday mode: dress code is shorts, t-shirt, a hat, shades, factor 50, craft beer in hand… and relax and take in the music.
