The Lorient Interceltic Festival in Brittany took place from August 5 to 14 with ten days and nights of parades, concerts, shows and entertainment. The 24th International Contest of Pibroch took place on August 8 as part of the festival with 12 pipers competing. The results were as follows:

  1. Robert WATT – Corrienessan’s Salute
  2. Andrew CARLISLE – Lament for The Earl of Antrim
  3. Derek MIDGLEY – Isabel MacKay
  4. Finlay FRAME – Tulloch Ard
  5. Bradley PARKER – The End of The Great Bridge

The judges were Roddy Livingstone and Derek Fraser. The previous winner of the competition was Fred Morrison in 2019.

Twelve pipers competed for the 40th MacCrimmon Trophy competition on August 7. The competition consists of three sections of music from Brittany, Scotland and Ireland. The judges for each section were from: Brittany – Cedric Le Bozec, Fulup Bauche: Scotland – Roddy Livingstone and Derek Fraser: and Ireland – Andy Wilson and Peter Browne. The winner was Robert Watt, who won the competition for his 8th time and is edging closer to record holder Fred Morrison’s 11 wins, with Fred’s last win coming in 2019. The results were as follows:
