The family of Andrew Wright are very sorry to say that Andrew passed away after a period of illness on October 23, 2022.

As a member of the Piobaireachd Society he served as President and highly influential member of the Music Committee.  He authored a book The General Principles of Piobaireachd: A Guide to Interpretation which met with universal praise.  In addition he served with distinction as a judge of both solo piping and pipe bands.  He was also generous with his time teaching and coaching of any piper wanting to improve their understanding and knowledge of the Highland Bagpipe and its music.  Andrew’s contribution to piping was recognised by the award to the Balvenie Medal in 2007.

A private funeral will take place in due course and it is hoped that the family’s request for privacy at this time will be understood.
