The National Piping Centre is bringing its world class teaching team to Gordon’s School in Surrey for a weekend of teaching.

Join the team from 31st March – 2nd April 2023 for teaching, workshops, practice time, new music and a recital on Saturday evening. The school is for pipers aged 18+, who can play at least a few simple tunes.

Where will we meet?

The Surrey Piping School will be held in Gordon’s School, West End, Woking, Surrey, GU24 9PT. The school is a short drive/taxi from Woking, which has many options for accommodation.

You can find full information about the school and how to get there over at their website. Click here and then click the “How to Find Gordon’s School” tab.

What will I learn and what will my timetable look like?

There will be group lessons, 1-2-1 tuition, Masterclass workshops and more for pipers. Each piping student will be provided with a digital music pack so everyone will have new music to learn.

The school will start at 2pm on Friday 31st March with welcome reception, and getting in to groups. On Saturday the day will start around 10am and finish around 5pm, then a tutor recital – which is open to the public – will begin at 7.30pm. On Sunday 2nd April, classes will meet at 10am with the school closing around 2pm. The exact timetable will be finalised soon, but you can expect 1-2-1 lessons, practice time, masterclasses, workshops, new music and more.

What will the school cost?

It is £350 per student. This includes tuition and teaching resources, a sandwich lunch on Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd April, and your entry to the Tutor recital on the evening of Saturday 1st April. Students should bring their own practice chanter/bagpipes, note pad and pen.

Breakfast, Dinner and Accommodation is not included.

Who will be teaching me?

The teaching line up will be announced here shortly. Once it is announced, tickets for the recital will be available for members of the public not attending the school.
