This year’s Masters Competition will take place at The National Piping Centre, McPhater Street, Glasgow on August 14. The Piping Convener for the competition has for many years been James Beaton who has decided to step down from this role. It has been widely regarded as a very well organised competition and James ensured the competition ran smoothly and was enjoyed by competitors, judges and audience members.
Wilson Brown, an instructor at the NPC, has now taken on these duties and planning is now well under way. This competition is open to all pipers who have won the Gold Medal or are eligible to play in the Former Winners MSR competitions at the Northern Meeting and Argyllshire Gathering.
Wilson told Bagpipe News: “As a former competitor I know how well the competition was organised by James and I hope to continue his excellent work. Our thanks go to James for his considerable efforts in this regard. I have now sent out entry forms to all eligible pipers however if any piper has not received an email I would ask that they contact me at The National Piping Centre (wbrown@thepipingcentre.co.uk) and I will ensure an entry form is sent out.”
