The Mallaig & Morar Highland Games take place on Sunday, August 6, at the Lovat Memorial Field, Morar, PH40 4PA from 12 noon.
Solo piping entries will be taken on the field, and the trophies up for grabs are the John Gillies of Bourblach Special Ceòl Mòr Memorial Cup, the MacBrayne Cup for Marches, the Simon MacKinnon Trophy for U18s, the Archie Gillies Memorial Cup for Strathspey/Reel and the Alasdair FB Roberts Memorial Quaich for the Best Adult Piper.
This year’s Chieftain is Charlie MacFarlane is the epitome of a Highland gentleman. Rarely, if ever, seen other than resplendent in the kilt, he is a kenspeckle figure around Lochaber. A noted piper, composer and tradition bearer, he was for many years mine host at Glenfinnan House Hotel, which became a byword for service and hospitality the world over.
