Piping Live! on a Sunday has a chilled vibe which is most welcome at the end of a busy week and following an exciting day at the World Pipe Band Championships on the Saturday.

The events get underway on Sunday afternoon and a packed NPC auditorium watched Anna Smart, Alastair Donaghy, Austin Diepenhorst and Enora Morice play in the Gordon Duncan Memorial Piping Competition. The competition consists of Scottish, Irish and Breton sections with all four competitors playing a set of tunes from those traditions. The winner was Alastair Donaghy, who plays with Field Marshal Montgomery Pipe Band.

The festival was brought to a close in fine style, with Jarlath Henderson and Innes Watson and The Ross Ainslie and Ali Hutton Band entertaining a sold-out, appreciative audience in the Closing Concert.
