lmreachd is your chance to see and hear young pipers and drummers from the NYPBS creating a unique night of music in Perth Concert Hall, on Sunday, April 14.
Concert tickets can be booked here.
Opportunities to see pipe bands perform in venues of this scale are rare, and the NYPBS seasonal non-competitive project offers a rare chance for bands to come together and celebrate what our young people can create.
The NYPBS have three ensembles this year, all working on a unique programme of music based around the theme of lmreachd (Migration). The concert will feature a mix of classic pipe band repertoire alongside modern concert pieces and brand-new music written by young people, through the Emerging Composers project.
The ensembles will be accompanied by special guests from the top of the Traditional Music scene tonight, including Perth-raised Trad Music giants Ali Hutton and Patsy Reid. And there will be an incredible production team led by Andrea Gobbi and Gary Ebdy to ensure tonight looks and sounds fantastic.
For the past 20 years, the NYPBS has provided these programmes entirely free to all participants thanks to support from Creative Scotland’s ‘Youth Music Initiative’. The end of year concerts are a vital fundraiser to help sustain the NYPBS, which is particularly important at the moment given the current pressures on the Arts sector.
