Eight of the world’s best pipers will be competing at The Springbank Invitational Competition, held at the Argyll Arms Hotel, Campbeltown, Argyllshire, on Saturday, September 14, 2024, commencing 10am.

The competition was initiated in 2000 by the Kintyre Piping Society and has been sponsored by the local Springbank Distillery since its inception.

This year’s invitees are Stuart Liddell MBE, Willie McCallum, Roddy MacLeod MBE, Callum Beaumont, Alasdair Henderson, Finlay Johnston, Sarah Muir and Innes Smith. Judges are now confirmed as John Wilson, Murray Henderson and Ian Duncan

Travellers to Campbeltown for the competition are always given a special welcome by the Society which has been in existence for over 70 years. It is hoped that the journey to hear some of the world’s best pipers in the town will inspire young players to take their piping to the highest level.

In 2023 Fred Morrison was winner of the Piobaireachd competition and Stuart Liddell was the overall winner with a first place in the MSR and a second in the Piobaireachd.
