On Saturday, September 28, the Ottawa Branch of the Pipers’ and Pipe Band Society of Ontario held the Glengarry Cup. The overall winner by piobaireachd preference was Tyler Bridge.
The Piobaireachd contest was held in the afternoon followed by the MSR contest in the evening. Judges for both events were Brian Williamson and Bob Worrall.
This edition was once again held on the same weekend as the National Police and Peacekeepers Memorial events on Parliament Hill, which brings in pipe bands from outside the area to the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, in Ottawa.
Anne Seigmiller, Ottawa Branch president by interim, shared that “the competitors this year performed beautifully and it was a real delight for the Branch to be able to gather players of this caliber on our stage.”
The Ottawa Branch wishes to thank RJW Stonemasons Ltd., presenting sponsor, as well as Benefactor, Darryl Lim from Billyard Insurance Group – Alta Vista. Their support makes this premier event possible.
The Glengarry Cup has been awarded since the 1980s when it was donated by the Glengarry Pipe Band. Past winners include Andrea Boyd, Ed Bush, Rob Crabtree, Bruce Gandy, Michael Grey, Andrew Hayes, Matt MacIsaac, Colin MacLellan, Ian K. MacDonald and many others.
