The organiser of the Guards Club Knockout, Jimmy Banks, has decided to complete the 2025 KO series on Sunday, June 8, due to the piping season fast approaching.

The day will start with a photo call at 1pm for the pipers involved in the two semi-finals. The first semi-final will get underway at 2pm with Cameron May v Brodie Watson-Massey, followed by the other semi at 3.30pm featuring Craig Muirhead v Bobby Allan. The final will then follow the conclusion of the semis.

The pipers are required to perform a set lasting 30 minutes. The set needs to contain one March, Strathspey and Reel and the ground of a piobaireachd. An audience vote decides the winner of each heat, though the final will include judges.

It all takes place at the Scots Guards Club in Clifton Terrace, Haymarket (opposite the railway station) in Edinburgh. Entry is £10 with a free half-time pie.

The Knockout has been held for over a decade now and has become a feature of the piping scene in Scotland’s capital city.

The Scots Guards Club was formerly a military club but membership has for many years now been open to all.
