A rare opportunity to join the team at Scotland’s centre of excellence in piping and help bring young people together through music.
The NPC are seeking to recruit six NPC Club tutors to join their growing tuition team. This role is ideal for tutors seeking to expand their experience, with the flexibility to balance other commitments, as the Club Tutor team operates on a rota basis, servicing NPC’s clubs.
Steven Blake, Director of Youth & Communities said: “NPC Clubs are a vital part of our youth engagement strategy to help young people develop their confidence and a sense of belonging through music by bringing them together for sustained group sessions.”
NPC Clubs are aimed at young people aged 7-17, small group sessions are delivered through their Weekend Piping Club on Saturdays and four-day seasonal Holiday Clubs at NPC’s McPhater St venue and throughout the week across Glasgow through their After School Piping Clubs. The current Clubs team has developed new approaches to teaching, focusing on enjoyment, engagement, and inclusion.
NPC Clubs Producer, Ailis Sutherland, said: “It’s an exciting time to be stepping into the team. We are looking for current and aspiring piping tutors who are responsible, driven and capable, but who also have an interest in delivering bespoke and nurturing tuition to children and young people.
“This role helps tutors develop their careers within the creative sector and build more confidence by broadening their scope as practitioners.”
Successful applicants would join the innovative team already in place and receive paid training in facilitation and the team’s approach before working in the clubs.
The NPC plans to expand its current Clubs as well as open new clubs in additional locations later in 2025. As part of the NPC Tuition team, new tutors will also have opportunities to get involved in other projects across NPC’s portfolio.
