The 140th Birnam Highland Games took place today, Saturday, August 30, in the small historical Perthshire village. Weather conditions were ideal for most of the day but around mid-afternoon the increasingly-darkening clouds let loose.
The number of pipers competing was the biggest for many years – nine in the Juniors and 22 in the Seniors. To his credit, one piper withdrew from the Ceòl Mòr competition when he realised his teacher was on the bench. The results were:
