Eight of the world’s best pipers will be competing at The Springbank Invitational Competition, held at the Argyll Arms Hotel, Campbeltown on Saturday, September 27 starting at 10am.
This year’s invitees are Stuart Liddell MBE, Willie McCallum, Angus MacColl, Alasdair Henderson, Sarah Muir, Roddy MacLeod MBE, Chris Armstrong and Cameron Drummond. Judges this year are John Wilson, Dr Angus MacDonald and Robert Barnes. Last year’s winner was Callum Beaumont.
The competition was initiated in 2000 by the Kintyre Piping Society and has been sponsored by the local Springbank Distillery since its inception.
Travellers to Campbeltown for the competition are always given a special welcome by the Society. It is hoped that the journey to hear some of the world’s best pipers in the town will inspire young players to take their piping to the highest level.
Entry is £10 and U18s are free.
