The Merse Pipers’ Society is set to host a solo piping evening at Berwickshire’s Allanton Village Hall on February 11, 2026, at 7.30pm. Kyle Howie steps into the spotlight for a solo recital, sharing not just his music but the personal path that has shaped his playing, from his early days discovering the instrument to catching the eye of the Red Hot Chilli Pipers.

Kyle’s recital will feature a thoughtful mix of classic tunes and modern compositions, highlighting his musical dexterity and the influences that have guided him. His experience with top bands like Spirit of Scotland and Vale of Atholl has added to his playing, offering the audiences a wider perspective of the piping scene. The evening unfolds with Kyle chatting through his story, culminating in a question-and-answer session.

With doors opening at 7pm for complimentary tea and coffee, and entry free of charge (though a collection will support society funds), this is a welcoming opportunity to experience top class piping in an intimate setting. Connect with the Merse Pipers’ Society through Facebook here.
