George Watson’s College is excited to announce the new Young Family Piping Scholarship, enabled through the generosity of a philanthropic gift to the GWC Pipes & Drums Programme.
This is a new means-tested Scholarship award, launching in March 2026, which will provide financial support to talented young pipers who may not otherwise have had the opportunity to attend Watson’s due to socio-economic barriers.
The GWC Piping Scholarship will provide full fee cover and full piping lesson fees throughout the recipient’s studies at George Watson’s College.
In the first year the award will be open to support a talented piper joining in Session 2026/27. In the second year, academic session 2027/28, they hope to include a talented piping pupil joining in S5.

The Award will be means-tested on initial application, with academic and music assessments to follow.
If you would like to register your interest in the GWC Piping Scholarship please complete the form found at this link and a GWC staff member will be in touch with you.
This is an exciting step forward in the school’s Pipe Band programme and a great opportunity for a budding young piper to receive a fully funded education and piping tuition at an independent school in the heart of Edinburgh.
