A little detail for the piping history books was added at the McCallum Bagpipes P/M Alasdair Gillies Memorial Recital Challenge on Thursday August 13, 2026 when the competition was declared a draw between Callum Beaumont and Connor Sinclair with no tie breaker.
Callum and Connor with fellow recitalists Angus MacColl, Finlay Johnston and Alasdair Henderson gave an evening full of flair and exciting world class piping that the audience loved and responded to with great warmth and appreciation.
Earlier on Thursday another Piping Live! showpiece competition came to a head with Andrew Zhao from the USA becoming Pipe Idol 2026. The other finalists were Liam Nicolson (Australia), Lachlan Rennie (Scotland) and Kai Hay (Scotland).
