A near sell out Captain John A MacLellan MBE Memorial Dinner took place on Saturday, August 29, 2026 at The Caledonian Hotel, Edinburgh.
The competitors were Cameron Drummond, who returned to defend his 2025 win, Callum Beaumont, Derek Midgley (USA) and Craig Sutherland (Canada), and for the first time two overseas pipers took part in the event.
The judge was Ian Duncan who chose Craig Sutherland’s performance of For My Lass, Fair, Pretty and Highland as the winner for 2026. Craig, who is originally from Crieff in Perthshire, is the Pipe Sergeant of the recently crowned Grade 1 World Champions Simon Fraser University Pipe Band. One can only imagine his satisfaction as he reflects on a successful month of piping in August 2026.
