By Ben Duncan, Assistant Pipe Major • George Watson’s College
We are once again delighted to be hosting The Caritas Banner Piobaireachd Competition for pipers aged 18 & Under on Sunday, November 29, at George Watson’s College, Edinburgh. The competition, which is 100% Piobaireachd offers three categories:
- 18 & Under Piobaireachd (submit 2 tunes)
- 14 & Under Piobaireachd (own choice)
- 14 & Under Urlar and Variation (own choice)
Entries have continued to bloom over the past 4 years and we hope to continue the ascension of entries this year. The winner of the 18 & Under Piobaireachd will receive the coveted “Caritas Banner”, kindly donated by The Piobaireachd Society, to retain for one year and a beautiful prize practice chanter from Kintail Bagpipes. All judges are SPJA approved and of the very highest calibre, for what promises to be a great day of Ceol Mor.
