Hirsutes you, sirs! Govan Police Pipe Band, the forerunner of the famous Glasgow Police Pipe Band and the Strathclyde Police Pipe Band. It is thought that this photograph was taken during the band’s visit to an orphanage in Bridge of Weir in 1886. The Pipe Major is Alasdair Hutcheon (left, front). Every band member is sporting a fantastic moustache. The gentleman in the centre, front is Chief Constable J. Hamilton.
