Mose Giaretta recently contacted Wilson Brown at the NPC to see if he could helpĀ in acquiring a copy of the book Piping Traditions of Argyll by Bridget MacKenzie. He is a very keen piper and has a large collection of music books and historical publications relating to piping and the Highlands. Some initial enquiries have proved fruitless and we are appealing to the wider piping community to see if anyone can help. Mose has spent many holidays touring the west coast of Scotland and enjoyed another visit to Scotland this year, including Oban, Mull and Iona.

Mose has been a friend of the NPC for many years and has attended many gatherings both here and at the Italian Piping School, receiving tuition from many of our instructors. If you can help Mose please contact Wilson at wbrown@thepipingcentre.co.uk.

He was instrumental in setting up theĀ Northern Meeting Workshop which is again being held in Italy from 18-19 January, 2026. This has proved to be extremely popular in the past and Mose has called on his friends Angus J and Angus D McCollĀ to once again be part of the teaching team. The school attracts nearly 40 pipers and drummers, not only from Italy but also Austria.

The NPC has enjoyed a long relationship with many pipers and drummers in Italy and each spring we work in partnership with the Italian Association of Pipers and Drummers to deliver a 4-day workshop. This year the school will take place in Calambrone, just outside Pisa, and will run from 30 April ā 3 May. This always prove to be an enjoyable and informative few days and is situated on a beautiful coastal location. Last year the piping tuition was delivered by Wilson Brown, Andrew Bova and Italian legend Alberto Massi. Keep an eye on the https://www.bagpipe.it/ website for 2026 bookings opening.
