Simon Fraser University Pipe Band’s Cameron Bonar and Zephan Knichel were, respectively, Overall Piper and Runner Up at last weekend’s Birnam Highland Games. Weather conditions were overcast but warm throughout. As ever, there was a good entry of overseas pipers.
A record 24 pipers competed in the Senior events at Birnam Highland Games on Saturday, September 29, 2026. This was after three pipers called off earlier and had the grace to let organisers know. 11 Juniors entered. Attendance was also the highest it’s ever been at the Perthshire village’s historic Games.
Due to the increasing numbers of pipers wishing to compete at Birnam, organisers say that are considering commencing the competitions an hour earlier than usual for 2027.
