ScottishPower Pipe Band will headline this year’s pre-Worlds pipe band concert at Glasgow Royal Concert Hall. The band, now in its 30th year of sponsorship by the utility company, last headlined this show in 2011.

Kurt Mackintosh of promoters, Glasgow Skye Association Pipe Band, said: “Scottish Power is known for its innovative arrangements both in the competition and concert arena and we have no doubt they will put on another fantastic show.”

Power Pipe Major, Chris Armstrong commented: “Being able to perform at [this] concert gives a real sense of drive to search for and learn music that we really enjoy playing and sharing outside of the competition circle.

“We are working closely with Rura, Finlay MacDonald and John Mulhearn with the intent that the concert will bring something inspiring and different. The focus is on producing material which balances tradition with innovation and above all, brings a wide range of exciting music from our repertoire and further afield.”

The concert takes place on Wednesday, August 14.

Tickets, priced from £20, are on sale now and available from the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall box office at www.glasgowconcerthalls.com or by telephoning (+44) 0141 353 8000.

The Glasgow Skye Association Pipe Band has been producing the ‘Pre-Worlds’ concert since 1994.
