The four solo pipers who will compete at this year’s Captain John A. MacLellan MBE Memorial Trust Dinner on Sunday, August 24, have been confirmed, featuring two Canadians and two Scots.
Each piper is assigned a tune composed by, or strongly associated with, the late Captain John MacLellan. This year’s pipers – and the tunes they will play – are:
- Glenn Brown – The Edinburgh Piobaireachd
- Angus MacColl – The Phantom Piper of Corrieyairack
- Bruce Gandy – For My Lass, Fair Pretty and Highland
- Pipe Major Ben Duncan – The Salute to the Great Pipe
Tom Speirs will judge.
The black-tie event, sponsored in part by the William Grant Foundation, will take place once again at the Caledonian Waldorf Astoria Hotel, Edinburgh.
Tickets for this premier event in the piping calendar go on sale on June 1 but can be pre-ordered from the Trust by emailing Tina Anderson at captainjohnmd@gmail.com
