Scottish folk singer, Dougie MacLean brought the 2019 Piping Live! Glasgow International Piping Festival to a close this evening.

The Perthshire based singer was joined in the Main Auditorium of Glasgow Royal Concert Hall by piping ensemble, Tryst. MacLean began his show with three songs on his own before being joined by Finlay MacDonald and Ross Ainslie.

The remainder of the show featured classics from the singer’s 40-year career including Ready for the Storm and Caledonia. He also played his popular instrumental, The Gael which featured in the 1992 movie Last of the Mohicans.

A visitor survey and economic impact report for the event, which ran from August 10-18 this year, will be available in due course. Last year’s festival generated almost £2 million (cUSD$2.5 million) for the local economy.
