Grampian Association (Corby) Pipe Band is recruiting new players for its Grade 3 and Grade 4 bands.

The English pipe band, founded in 1968, is based in the Northamptonshire town of Corby, dubbed ‘Little Scotland’ due to numbers of Scots who migrated there from the 1930s onwards to work in the steelworks.

The band was promoted through the grades during the late 1980s and early 90’s reaching Grade 2. It was European and British Champions (Grade 4b) in 2006 and the drumming Champion of Champions that year.

The Grade 3 band is led by Martin Bryan (ex-Pipe Major of Greater Manchester Fire & Rescue Service and West Midlands Police) who spent the 2015 season with Scottish Power. Leading Drummer, Daniel Belfield recently played in Johnstone Pipe Band’s Grade 1 corps.

Bryan said: “We are recruiting for both bands and intend to be in a position to field two good sized bands next year. We have an initial four year plan that will see us grow from strength to strength.”
