The Pipe Major Donald MacLeod MBE Memorial Piping Competition has been re-scheduled to November 27.

Organisers, the Lewis & Harris Piping Society, have moved quickly to find the date after making the decision last week to postpone. Finlay Johnston, pictured, won the 2019 competition.

The competition, the 27th, had been due to take place on Friday, April 3 in Stornoway.


Meanwhile, the RSPBA has confirmed that promoters have cancelled the following pipe band competitions in its Northern Ireland branch in response to the current Coronavirus outbreak:

  • April 11 – Ulster Solos
  • May 9 – Ards and North Down
  • May 16 – County Fermanagh
  • May 30 – Mid Ulster
  • June 6 – Antrim and Newtownabbey
  • June 21 – Lisburn and Castlereagh

The RSPBA has also confirmed the pipe band contests at Banchory (scheduled for May 10) and Aberdeen (scheduled for June 21) have been cancelled.
